Zinc Defined
Chemical Symbol Zn. Element No. 30 of the periodic system; atomic weight 65.38. Blue-white metal; when pure, malleable and ductile even at ordinary temperatures; melting point 787 (degrees) F.; boiling point 1665 (degrees) F., specific gravity 7.14. Can be electrodeposited; it is extensively used as a coating for steel and sheet zinc finds many outlets, such as dry batteries, etc. Zinc-base alloys are of great importance in die casting. Its most important alloy is brass.

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA-- - Sherwood Copper Corporation today announced that exceptionally high rainfall over the past several days, on top of an already wet summer, resulted in the temporary closure of the Klondike Highway to Whitehorse, flooding of its access road to its Minto Mine and excessive water inflows into its water storage pond from the surrounding hills.

Gold rose over 1.5% to $834.90 by midday in London before it fell to a tiny loss at $822.45 in New York , but it then rallied back higher by the close and ended with a gain of 0.65%. Silver rose over 2% to $13.86 and fell $13.39 before it also rallied back higher, but it still ended with a loss of 0.52%.
